The President Joe Biden Administration will distribute four free at-home COVID-19 tests to every residential address that signs up through a new website launched Tuesday.
The website, covidtests.gov, allows users to fill out a form ascertaining they’d like their home to receive the tests. Tests will then ship through the United States Postal Service within 7 to 12 days, per the website.
No identification, credit card, or insurance information is required to place an order.
Those who need more than four tests are encouraged to explore other options, such as free testing centers in their community or insurance reimbursements for at-home tests purchased elsewhere.
The federal free test program comes on the heels of the widespread Omicron COVID-19 variant, which has wreaked havoc on healthcare systems since the December holidays.
COVID case counts appear to be on the decline in Massachusetts, after an all-time high on Jan. 8, when the state’s Department of Public Health reported a seven-day average of 23,037 new cases. As of Monday, the state’s seven-day average was more than halved to 10,409.
