A beer festival and fundraiser that usually takes place at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston will be held at the Worcester Common in September.
The fundraiser, Mass Fermentational, will bring together over 50 local breweries to raise money for the Massachusetts Brewers Guild’s government affairs fund, as well as educational and marketing programs for local breweries. The event, on Sept. 16 from 1 to 5 p.m., is expected to draw about 2,500 patrons, according to a release from the brewers guild.
“There are craft beer fans in every corner of the state, it only makes sense to diversify and bring a great beer show closer to their doorstep,” said Rob Burns, co-founder of Night Shift Brewing and president of the Massachusetts Brewers Guild.
The brewery lineup includes Central Massachusetts brewers like Tree House Brewing Co., Wormtown Brewery, and Jack’s Abby Craft Lagers. Other breweries include Barrel House Z, Bone Up Brewing Co., CraftRoots, Exhibit ’A’, Honest Weight, Start Line Brewing Co., Lord Hobo Brewing Co., Night Shift, and Castle Island Brewing.
Tickets are $45, and admission includes unlimited two-ounce beer samples. Non-drinkers can purchase a designated driver ticket for $10. Food from Big T’s BBQ, Press’n It, Sabor Latino, Teddy’s Lunch Box, Travelin’ Bones BBQ and Trolley Dogs will be available for purchase after entry.
The brewers guild event will be the third beer festival held in Worcester this year, after Brew Woo this spring and coming on Thursday, the first Summer Craft Beer Festival will be held at Mercantile Center. The first Worcester Wine Festival is scheduled to take place in October.
CORRECTION: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the Mass Fermentational will be the second beer festival in Worcester this year. It will be the third.
