Becker College's video game design program is now third nationally, up one spot from last year in a ranking by The Princeton Review.

The Worcester school ranked 11th in the world for its master's degree in interactive media in the first year the program was offered, Becker announced Friday.

In The Princeton Review's best undergraduate programs for game-design education, Becker was outranked only by the University of Southern California and New York University. Worcester Polytechnic Institute ranked ninth.

For master's degree programs, WPI ranked just one spot behind Becker at 12th.

The rankings are based on a survey of administrators at 150 institutions offering game design courses, majors or degrees. The survey covers information on academics, faculty, technology and career prospects. More than 40 data points are weighed in total.

For Becker, the latest rankings add to an outsized accomplishment for a school of only roughly 1,500 students. Becker has capitalized on its name recognition in gaming by launching what it says is the first esports management degree program in the country.
