Becker Honors Murray For Video Game Advocacy

Tim Murray spoke this morning at Becker College in Worcester, where he will return full time next week to lead the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray, who is resigning from the state's second-highest office next week to lead the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, was awarded a medal this morning by Becker College President Robert E. Johnson, the college said.
Johnson established the President's Medal this year to recognize those whose contributions have "a far-reaching and positive influence on Becker College, in our communities, across the nation, or around the world," Becker said.
Murray was selected to receive the award for his work in establishing the Massachusetts Digital Games Institute (MassDiGi) at Becker, which is dedicated to the creation of jobs in the video game industry.
At this morning's event, Murray helped to officially kick off MassDiGi's second annual summer innovation program, an 11-week program in which approximately 20 college students work with mentors and faculty to develop their own video game.
"Video games are a growing industry, and MassDiGi is dedicated to helping students improve their talent and help Massachusetts stay competitive in the increasingly global marketplace of the 21st century," Murray said in an announcement.
Murray will take over as CEO at the chamber next week. He announced his resignation last week at a press conference. The chamber's board of directors approved his hiring the same day.
