The BBB of Central New England is warning businesses of a scam that asks business owners to pay $125 to compile corporate meeting minutes.
The solicitation is from Compliance Services of Boston, according to the BBB, and implies that businesses are required to submit corporate meeting minutes to the state. There is no such requirement.
The firm then offers to compile corporate meeting minutes for a $125 fee.
Similar mailings have been issued in Georgia, Ohio and Indiana, as well as in the Bay State.
The BBB reminds businesses to read all the fine print on any document. Any official mailing from the Secretary of State’s office will have William Francis Galvin’s name on it, the BBB notes. In the Compliance Services form, the fine print states that the firm has no affiliation with the government.
