Bancroft To Dedicate Solar Power System

The largest private solar electric system in Worcester will be dedicated Friday at the Bancroft School in Worcester.

The system, which was installed at the school's McDonough Center, consists of 462 solar panels and can produce more than 117,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, about 25 percent of the energy used by the building.

Millbury Credit Union and private investments financed the project and the panels were manufactured by Canadian Solar. The system was designed by Millbury-based Future Solar Systems LLC.

Bancroft is a private K-12 school.

Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray is scheduled to address an audience of students, faculty, parents and state officials during the dedication, which is scheduled for 1 p.m.
