Baker picks four Worcester leaders for Mass. Economic Development Planning Council

Four Worcester business and higher education leaders have been named to a new Massachusetts Economic Development Planning Council by Gov. Charlie Baker.
Quinsigamond Community College President Luis Pedraja, Pawtucket Red Sox Executive Vice President of Real Estate Development Dan Rea, Kinefac Corp. Owner and Founder Leslie Greis, and Ten24 Founder and Owner David Crouch will join 32 others from across the state.
The council, formed by Baker, will develop a new economic development plan by the end of the year and submit it to the governor's office. The council includes appointees of the House, Senate, state officials, business executives, municipal leaders, small business owners and entrepreneurs.
The council is co-chaired by Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito and Secretary of Housing and Economic Development Mike Kennealy.
“Taking part on this council is such a valuable way to help strengthen our economy and bring a voice to our community,” Pedraja said in a statement. “At QCC, our programs are aligned with the economic needs of the region. We train our students not only for the jobs of today, but for the global workforce of tomorrow.”
Rea and the PawSox are moving to Worcester for the 2021 season into a brand new $101-million ballpark being constructed by the city. The project is being accompanied by about $140 million in private development on mostly vacant land in the Canal District.
