Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been riding atop a large field of 2016 presidential candidates this summer because of his high name recognition and the large amount of attention his candidacy has drawn, according to Gov. Charlie Baker.
"I think Donald Trump is certainly his own brand, right, and he's been around," Baker said during his "Ask the Governor" segment Thursday on WGBH radio.
"He's been in reality TV. He's just been part of the infrastructure − the political, policy, public infrastructure − for a long time and I think some of what's going on at this point is definitely name ID and some of it is the fact that everybody keeps talking about him at the expense of everybody else," Baker said.
Without getting into specifics, host James Braude then asked Baker about Trump's comments regarding women. Rhe candidate has come under fire for remarks he made about Rosie O'Donnell and more recently Megyn Kelly, host of a recent presidential debate.
"I was raised by my parents, you know, in a certain way," Baker said, "and I find a lot of those comments to be reprehensible, outrageous an ridiculous and I wish he would take them back."
