BAA buys Boston Marathon start line home for $1.2M

The Boston Athletic Association has paid $1.2 million for a home near the start of the Boston Marathon Start line in Hopkinton.

The house at 1 Ash St. that was built around 1900 has served as office space for the organization that runs the Boston Marathon and other road races. It is located on the corner of E. Main Street where the race begins every year. It was sold on January 29, according to property records.

BAA officials told Wicked Local a potential sale on the property had been in the works for years and that the space could potentially be used as offices for the organization.
