Ayer-based Optometrics Corp. has received a $300,000 equipment loan from MassDevelopment, the state’s finance and development agency.
A division of Dynasil Corp., Optometrics makes optical products and components. The company will use loan proceeds to buy several pieces of equipment used in production of high-quality optical components in products for military and commercial markets, according to MassDevelopment.
The company will also be able to expand its existing product lines by investing in the new equipment, and anticipates adding 10 jobs in the next year, and 26 by 2017, MassDevelopment said. This will bring Optometrics’ Massachusetts workforce to 70 people.
In addition to support from MassDevelopment, Optometrics received a $200,000 loan from the Ayer Industrial Development Finance Authority (IDFA), which provides loans to businesses interested in expanding in town. The IDFA loan supported the equipment purchase and upgrades to the facility, according to MassDevelopment.
David Maher, director of economic development for the town of Ayer, said in a statement that partnering with MassDevelopment to issue financing to Optometrics is an “important collaboration … that will help keep Optometrics as an important part of the Ayer community for many years to come.”
