It's the end of January. Have you broken your resolutions yet? The Candidate Blog, run by Westborough-based staffing company JCSI, has some suggestions for job seekers looking for new ways to stick to their career-minded resolutions, or those who are just looking for a re-do on the whole resolution thing.
Based on input from job candidates, recruiters and personal experience, JCSI's blogger has three suggestions:
1. Use LinkedIn. By now, most of us know about the professional social media site, but JCSI says many job seekers don't see the point of using it. The point, according to the blog post, is that recruiters care about the site, so it's a place where you can be discovered. LinkedIn offers access to job postings, as well as forums too share perspectives with others in your field and build connections that could serve you down the line.
2. Know your value. Use your last salary or the one you're shooting for to give you a sense of what your time is worth. Then, go into your interviews with the confidence of knowing what you could bring the company.
3. Try something new. Being serious about a job hunt means extending yourself beyond your comfort zone. Look for new opportunities, and have an open mind about suggestions you may receive from recruiters.
