Nitto Denko Avecia has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Irvine Pharmaceutical Services (Irvine) and Avrio Biopharmaceuticals (Avrio) in an effort to expand its contract manufacturing services.

Avecia, located in Marlborough and Milford, offers manufacturing and development services for therapeutic nucleic acid. The acquisition of the two Irvine California companies, which is expected to close in October and the price of which was not disclosed, will consolidate the two companies into Nitto Avecia Pharma Services. This new company will expand Avecia’s analytical capabilities and complement its existing outsourcing services, according to a release.
