Auburn, Littleton, Westford get $162K for water projects
Three Central Massachusetts communities are getting more than $162,000 in state grants for water infrastructure projects.
The Baker Administration on Thursday awarded the grants as part of the state’s Water Management Act grant program from the state Department of Environmental Protection.
The grant funds in Auburn will be used to create a permanent interconnection with Worcester. The $84,400 will be used for design and permitting of the second phase of the project.
Westford and Littleton will use $78,069 on the Stonybrook Restoration Project.
In a statement, State Sen. Michael Moore (D-Millbury) said the conservation of water is a priority in Auburn.
“I applaud the administration for awarding this critical funding to support the second phase of this interconnection project,” Moore said. “Ultimately, the system upgrades will encourage further conservation and responsible distribution of our most precious natural resource."
