R.H. White Cos., a general contractor and water utility management company based in Auburn, has named Gerard Herr as its next CFO and has appointed Heather Whitney to the newly created position of vice president of strategy and sustainability.

Herr arrives at R.H. White following a nine-year stint as the CFO and treasurer of Hatzel & Buehler, a Delaware-based commercial electrical contractor, according to a press release issued by R.H. White on Wednesday. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Loyola University Maryland.

Herr will replace Robert Jacobson, who will retire in July. He first joined R.H. White in 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“We welcome Gerry while congratulating Bob on his pending retirement and thanking him for his leadership, guidance, and clear contributions to R.H. White’s sustainable growth and success. We look forward to Gerry’s contributions and learning from his experience implementing innovative and cost-effective financial practices throughout his career that will strengthen our operations,” Jim McCarthy, R.H. White CEO, said in the Tuesday press release.

Whitney’s appointment to the vice president of strategy and sustainability position will see her oversee strategic initiatives, organizational development, and sustainability leadership for the company. Her appointment comes after two decades at R.H. White, having most recently served as an accounting manager.

“With her varied experience and passion for the company’s sustainability efforts, as well as her strong financial background, Heather is uniquely qualified for this position,” McCarthy said in the press release. “I look forward to her efforts to continue proactively growing and solidifying R.H. White’s sustainability through the development of great people, great planning, great execution, and great leaders for the future.”

Whitney graduated from Bryant University in Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in management.
