Atlantic Poké, a young fast casual poké restaurant with branches in Shrewsbury and Marlborough, is officially looking to expand through franchising, owner Michael Tomaiolo said on Friday.
Atlantic Poké’s flagship restaurant opened in Shrewsbury in 2018, with its second location in Marlborough opening its doors in May this year. Through franchising, Tomaiolo plans to initially expand the brand in Massachusetts, with the aim of opening franchise branches out-of-state in the future.
“I always said we wanted to develop it so everything could scale,” Tomaiolo said of the restaurant and his plans to franchise.
Details about becoming a potential franchise owner are available on the Atlantic Poké website. The company estimates initial fees and investments to range from $320,597 to $499,583 for a single unit.
Tomaiolo, who was born in Worcester and grew up in Shrewsbury, most recently spent 11 years working in medical sales. Before turning to restaurants, he also worked in financial sales, as well as marketing and publishing.
However, he comes from a long line of restaurateurs, and always wanted to own his own.
“It’s always been in the blood,” Tomaiolo said.
He hopes to have new stores under contract and/or scheduled to open as soon as next year.
“It’s definitely exciting,” he said.
