Pexco LLC, an Athol plastics manufacturer, may be bought by a Georgia private equity firm, Pexco has announced.
Pexco, with about 160 employees in Athol, is now owned by Odyssey Investment Partners LLC. It now plans to merge with PPC Industries, a company owned by private equity firm Kohlberg & Company.
The merger would strengthen both companies' positions in the medical plastics sector, Pexco said.
Pexco's CEO, Neil Shillingford, would assume leadership of the newly combined company, which would have more than 2,000 employees across 20 plants in five countries.
Pexco declined to give financial terms or describe what steps or approvals are necessary before the acquisition is complete.
