Pexco, a Georgia specialty plastics maker with a plant in Athol, has been acquired by a New York company and merged with a Wisconsin manufacturer.
Pexco is now part of the Spectrum Plastics Group, which offers a range of plastic and material solutions mostly for the medical device market, according to New York private equity firm Kohlberg & Co., which owns the group and acquired Pexco last month. Kohlberg merged Pexco with PPC Industries, Inc. of Wisconsin to form the Spectrum Plastics Group.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The newly formed group will offer thermoplastic and silicone tubing extrusion, injection molding, film, packaging, assembly, and value-add manufacturing technologies, according to Kohlberg.
In total, Spectrum will operate across 20 plants in five countries with more than 2,000 employees. The medical business will consist of 15 manufacturing facilities around the world, with both thermoplastic and silicone technologies.
