The Grenon School of Business at Assumption University in Worcester added a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership to its fall 2023 offerings.
The online program is aimed to advance leadership skills in working professionals with at least three years of experience in their field, preferably with some supervisory management experience, according to a Wednesday press release from the University.
The program is led by Director Michael Lewis, who holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organization Systems from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, Calif. and an MBA from Assumption.
“As the world becomes more complex and uncertain, the need for leadership is more important today than any time in recent memory,” Lewis said in the press release. “Among the key differentiators of our Organizational Leadership program is that it is value-based, so we will focus on the underlying beliefs that help guide a student’s decision-making. And the program’s real-world focus means the case work is always relevant.”
Assumption board member and former executive vice president with Boston-based Fidelity Investments Carolyn Clancy feels that the launch of the class is timely.
“The pandemic is an excellent, albeit unfortunate, example of an event that influenced great change in how businesses operate and how leaders manage employees,” said Clancy in the press release, “The abrupt establishment of a remote workforce, for example, brought about a strong need for leaders to pivot and adapt to fast-changing work environments.”
In July, Assumption named Patrick Cullen as dean of the Grenon School of Business, succeeding the school's founding dean Joseph Foley.
The Grenon School of Business was founded in 2019 and is named for David Grenon, an honorary alumnus of Assumption, who founded The Protector Group Insurance Agency Inc. in Worcester.
