Assumption University in Worcester is offering a program called Fast Track to the Pack for high-school students who have not yet entered their senior year to apply for acceptance before the school year begins.
"We're attempting to remove a lot of the bureaucracy and student and parent stress from the admissions process. Ours has much more of a human touch,” William Boffi, Assumption’s vice president of enrollment engagement, said in a Monday press release.
As of Tuesday, 64 students had registered for the program.
The move comes as colleges throughout the region and the country are facing enrollment declines, as the population of high school graduates is dropping. The situation has led to colleges and universities seeking more nontraditional students, such as international students and older students seeking to further their educations and careers.
Prospective students for Assumption need to submit an application and supporting paperwork by the end of Saturday and attend an early acceptance event on Aug. 18.
