Amid high demand for registered nurses across the healthcare industry, Assumption University in Worcester will offer a post-bachelor’s accelerated nursing track through its Froelich School of Nursing beginning in June.
“The post-bachelor’s accelerated nursing track has been developed to combat the current shortage of registered nurses that is expected to intensify as the more than 70 million Baby Boomers age and the need for health care increases as a result,” Caitlin Stover, dean of the Froelich School of Nursing, said in a Thursday press release.
The program allows individuals who already have a bachelor’s or graduate degree in a non-nursing field to get licensure as a registered nurse through a 16-month program.
“It is no secret that burnout among registered nurses in the last two-plus years, primarily due to the stress of providing health care associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to a crushing exodus from the nursing field. This additional track in our already successful baccalaureate nursing program will significantly increase the number and the rate that graduate nurses enter the pipeline,” Stover said.
The university plans a series of program information sessions beginning this fall. To learn more about the program, visit the university’s website.
