Assumption, PawSox to announce partnership

The soon-to-be Worcester Red Sox will be announcing a partnership with Assumption College at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
The Pawtucket Red Sox sent a media advisory about a press conference at the college to announce an academic and community partnership with the private Roman Catholic liberal arts college.
According to emails between the club and city officials over the summer, at least 16 founding sponsors were considered as the club began finalizing the terms of a deal to move to Worcester’s Canal District and build a $90 million ballpark. Assumption College was not one of those entities.
So far, only Worcester health insurer Fallon Health has announced a sponsorship deal with the team. Tentatively, the ballpark will be named Polar Park after Worcester manufacturer Polar Beverages.
