Assumption College will extend its tuition freeze to the class of 2019, a move the Worcester school says offers potential savings of $23,000 over four years, the college announced last week.
“Assumption College is pleased to continue its leadership role on the national challenge of college affordability, assisting students in their pursuit of an advanced degree,” President Francesco Cesareo said in a statement.
The announcement marks the second consecutive year the school has committed to incoming freshmen that they will pay the same tuition today throughout their four years of study, in an effort to keep costs in check for students, Cesareo said. Private, four-year institutions are increasing their tuition at an average of 4 percent a year, according to the college.
In a recent student survey, 80 percent of freshmen reported that the Assumption Assurance program was “very important” in their decision to attend Assumption, said the college.
