The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and The Princeton Review have recognized Worcester institutions Assumption College and Clark University, respectively.
Assumption's education preparation program was granted approval with distinction by the state education office, a title only two other Massachusetts schools received. Approval with distinction is the highest level of approval awarded by the DESE, signifying the recipient has exceeded the bar for the department’s approval.
The department considers Assumption College to be an exemplary institution, acknowledging its strength in elementary through secondary education, as well as its special education and counseling programs, according to an announcement of the recognition.
Clark received acknowledgement from the Princeton Review, being placed on its lists of Best Value Colleges and Impact Schools.
The Princeton Review selected 200 colleges from a pool of 656 national colleges and universities based on students' and administrators' responses to the publication’s surveys.
Clark’s ranking of 21st on the Impact Schools list was based strictly on the student’s opinion of the college’s community service opportunities, on-campus student engagement, and student government.
The review placed Clark on its Best Value Colleges list based off of its strength in liberal arts, internships, and capstone experiences for a fraction of the price of other similar institutions, according to Clark's announcement.
