Assumption announces 4-year tuition rate freeze
Assumption College has unveiled a new plan aimed at cutting costs for students and their families.
On Sunday, President Francesco C. Cesareo unveiled Assumption Assurance, which will freeze tuition rates for incoming freshmen as well as current freshmen and sophomores for four years at the 2014-15 levels. According to the school’s website, tuition for a full-time undergraduate student for the 2013-14 school year was $34,475.
"As the parent of a current college student and two other children who will attend college in the next five years, I know first-hand the challenges families face in not only choosing a college, but also budgeting for that education," Cesareo said. "There has been much discussion on the national level and throughout the higher education community about these challenges, but few solutions have been offered that will provide a guaranteed benefit for students and their families.”
Assumption estimates the tuition freeze will save families $6,500 to $11,000 over the course of a student’s career.
Other aspects of Assumption Assurance include an internship program completed by nearly 70 percent of 2013 graduates and the option to spend a semester at Assumption’s new campus in Rome.
