Three months after the Figs & Pigs restaurant inside the DCU Center closed in Worcester, a Vietnamese coffee shop is set to replace the eatery in the spring.
Son Vo, owner of the Pho Sure restaurant in Shrewsbury, has partnered with the owner of Reign Drink Lab in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, to open Reign Cafe in the 1,200-square-foot space on the Foster Street side of the venue.
Vo said he met Sandy Dunn, DCU’s general manager, at a WBJ event last year where he was named Small Business Leader of the Year.
“We got to talking, and she told us about the available space in the DCU Center,” he said. “My partner at Reign Drink Lab, and I worked together on the concept and I came up with the menu. We love the location.”
Vo said the restaurant will feature Vietnamese coffee, tea and smoothies, as well as dishes including banh mi, the Vietnamese word for baguette, which is often split and filled with various savory ingredients, and noodle and salad bowls.
He said he is opening another restaurant in Worcester, Chashu Ramen + Izakaya, with Japanese-inspired cuisine, in a few months.
Dunn and Tam Le of Reign could not immediately be reached for comment.
