Kidde Fire Systems' Ashland manufacturing facility has received a $67,200 Workforce Training Funding Grant from Massachusetts.
The grant, announced June 9, will help teach new and revised industry standards to employees, but primarily technicians, machinists, and engineers. According to Gov. Charlie Baker's Administration, which announced the funding, other ways the grant will help include retention and increased opportunity for workers.
Kidde Fire Systems solutions are used in many industries and manufactures and designs fire suppression systems for special hazard applications. Its Ashland facility has about 300 workers.
The grant is part of a $10-million state program awarded to 133 companies statewide, and will include training as well as promoting job growth. In all, 6,500 workers will be trained with the grant, and by 2021 it will add an expected 1,361 new jobs.
The program is administered by Commonwealth Corp.
