Worcester nonprofit Ascentria Care Alliance announced on Wednesday it has hired Aimee Mitchell as its new chief community services officer.
Mitchell joined the $107-million nonprofit Ascentria in July and will manage its portfolio of human services programs.
Mitchell’s previous position was the chief of staff for Rhode Island’s Department of Children, Youth, and Family. She has a 25-year-long career in the industry, with experience serving individuals with disabilities, psychiatric needs, and those impacted by the welfare system. Mitchell has a bachelor’s degree from the University of California in Santa Cruz and a master’s degree in social work from Smith College in Northampton
Mitchell succeeds Timothy Johnstone, who left Ascentria to pursue other opportunities.
Ascentria is focused on creating economic supports for children, youth, and families; people with developmental disabilities and mental illness; and refugees.
