Central Mass Auctions Inc. in Worcester is selling 700 lots from the Rotman collection of Worcester, Central Massachusetts and New England memorabilia.
Rotmans Furniture, Mattress & Accessory announced in October it would close its doors after its inventory is sold. Rotmans CEO Steve Rotman, 83, told the Worcester Business Journal he decided to close the business after not being able to expand the store and its furniture business.
"Rotman's Furniture has been an important part of the Worcester community, and I am pleased that Central Mass Auctions will be handling the sale of this wonderful collection," auctioneer Wayne Tuiskula said in a Monday press release.
Notable items include the Worcester Worcesters baseball club's 1880 application for admittance into the National League, along with the acceptance letter from the league office. There are 19th century tobacco boxes depicting the Worcester Nine baseball team.
Bidding is open online through the online platform LiveAuctioneers and can be accessed through the Central Mass Auction Website. Bidding begins to close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
There will be a live preview at the Rotmans Furniture location at 725 Southbridge St. in Worcester on Saturday and Sunday.
We purchased furniture and it was damaged upon delivery. They picked back up and re still have not received our money back.
You guys should really report on the Rotman's fraud-ridden stock endeavors. Steve and his son Greg should be in JAIL. The people of Worcester deserve to know how crooked this family really is.
