Art Museum Offers Free Admission Again

Courtesy The Worcester Art Museum will offer free general admission for the second consecutive summer.

For the second summer in a row, the Worcester Art Museum (WAM) is offering free admission during July and August.

"WAM's 2012 Free Summer was a resounding success, resulting in a dramatic increase in visitors and first-time museum visitors," said WAM Director Matthias Waschek.

During the summer, WAM will be open Wednesday through Sunday and will have activities such as a drawing club, the Tattered American Classics book club, storytelling in the galleries and tours. Those events, offered daily when the museum is open, are an effort to build upon the increase of attendance during the free admission months.

"One of our biggest priorities is to make the Worcester Art Museum more accessible to the community and the world," said Adam Rozan, director of audience engagement. "Offering free general admission for the summer months allows visitors to take the museum for a 'test drive.' "

The free summer is sponsored by The Kirby Foundation, Fallon Community Health Plan, National Grid and United Bank.
