Aquarion Water Co. has completed Phase 2 of a three-year, $2 million water main replacement project in Oxford on Main Street, the company announced.
The new water main replaces an old pipe that was determined to be hydraulically deficient and operationally flawed due to its break history and its age, the company said. The new water main has been installed, and curb-to-curb paving completed on both the Phase 1 and Phase 2 portions of the project. New paving is now in place on Main Street from Depot Road up to the Little League field south of Maple Avenue.
Approximately 2,000 feet of water main was installed in the 2015 construction season, beginning just north of Clara Barton Road and concluding just south of Maple Avenue, the company said.
On Sept. 15, Aquarion briefed the Oxford Board of Selectmen on infrastructure plans for 2016, cooperation with town officials on economic development priorities, and community involvement and charitable contributions.
Aquarion Water Company of Massachusetts, a subsidiary of Connecticut-based Aquarion Water Company, is the public water supply company for Oxford.
