Anthony Rino

Age: 39
Title: Vice President, Physician Services
Company: Vanguard Health Systems
Company location: Southborough
Residence: Northborough

Career highlights:
I am currently the vice president of physician services for Vanguard Health Systems. I am responsible for the entire New England market. I oversee contract negotiations, physician recruitment, finance and billing. Prior to joining Vanguard, I spent six years at UMass Memorial Medical Center as an administrator as well as senior director of operations for the medical group. Before I got into physician practice management I spent most of my career in laboratory medicine. I spent eight years working at Brigham and Women’s. From there I had several laboratory management positions including Deaconess Nashoba Hospital and Milford Regional Hospital.

Community involvement:
I volunteer as a loaned executive for the United Way. I also volunteer by giving management talks to local business groups such as the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce. I also gave talks for the Northborough Free Library and the Northborough senior breakfast. I also get involved through my church community as a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving meals at Our Fathers table and also as a teacher in the religious education program. I have a blessed life and volunteering helps me give back and give thanks for all that I have.

Biggest success:
My biggest success professionally came in June 2005 when I published my book “Footsteps of My Father; Everything I Know About Management I Learned From My Dad.” As a result I have gained national recognition both as an author and a motivational speaker. My book has allowed me to travel all over the country and meet thousands of people.

Dream job:
I would love to host my own TV cooking show!

Businessperson he most admires and why:
The businessperson I most admire is my father. My dad served as my mentor as I watched him run a successful restaurant business for more than 35 years. My dad taught me that hard work and passion are the ingredients for success. The lessons I learned watching my dad were the inspiration for my book.
