Title: President, Part owner
Company: Wood Pro
Company location: Auburn
Residence: Auburn
Career highlights:
I am president and part owner of Wood Pro, a wholesale distributor of hardwood flooring with six locations in New England and six locations in Georgia and Florida. I set the vision and strategy for the company. I got to this position with hard work, persistence, setting goals and hiring great employees. My philosophy is to empower people to make decisions and create an environment where each employee feels like it is his or her company. Having dedicated and loyal employees is the key to any company’s success. I may set the plan, but the employees carry it out.
Community involvement:
I feel that it is important to be involved with the community where you live. I am an active board member on Auburn Youth and Family Services. What is great about AYFS is that I can see a direct result of my efforts right in my own hometown. Seeing first hand the effects that your efforts have on children is so powerful. There are so many children, who through no fault of their own have been dealt a tough hand. Giving these kids hope and opportunity is so important.
Biggest success:
My biggest success has been building a company that gives employees the opportunity to grow and prosper. Taking a company that no one in our industry knew to being a company that is well regarded by customers and vendors has been so rewarding. We have grown so much over the last 12 years. The growth would not have been there without the incredible employees that work for Wood Pro.
Dream job:
My ultimate dream job would be to own and manage a baseball team.
Businessperson he most admires and why:
The people I most admire aren’t business people; they’re my parents. My mom and dad taught me at a young age to work hard, be a good person, be respectful and treat people the way you would want to be treated. I live my life like this and feel like I run my company like this as well.
