Anna Maria professor joins WBJ to lead banking & finance reporting

Sloane M. Perron, an adjunct professor at Anna Maria College in Paxton, has joined the WBJ newsroom as a staff writer, primarily covering banking & finance.

“It’s been a few years since WBJ has had a reporter principally dedicated to the banking industry, and Sloane is going to bring a whole new level of insight as WBJ expands its coverage,” WBJ Editor Brad Kane said. “Sloane has a strong and varied journalism background, is well known in the Central Massachusetts community, and will enhance our standard of excellence as she grows into her new beat.”

Since January 2020, Perron has been an adjunct English and journalism professor at Anna Maria, which is a role she will keep as she works for WBJ. Previously, she was the editor of Pulse Magazine in Worcester, a staff writer for Ware River News, and a freelancer for publications like This Week in Worcester, the Quaboag Current, Tantasqua Town Common, and The Worcester Sun.

“WBJ is known for its high journalistic standards and its commitment to thorough business reporting. I am excited to join the WBJ team, and I look forward to exploring this new beat as I continue my reporting journey,” Perron said.

Perron received dual bachelor’s degrees in business and English literature from Anna Maria and her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Limerick in Ireland. She has been published internationally in The Limerick Voice and The Limerick Leader. She is a resident of New Braintree.
