Anna Maria College in Paxton will offer three new majors starting this fall: health administration, digital and social media design, and video and photographic arts.
The new offerings, which the college announced Monday, will help graduates be tech-savvy, and better able to navigate risks and challenges in a rapidly changing business environment, said Christine Holmes, the college's vice president for academic affairs.
“These three new majors will prepare students to not only successfully compete and contribute in their respective fields, but to do so as trained ethical leaders and community-orientated professionals, the hallmark of an Anna Maria College education," Holmes said in a press release.
The health administration major is an applied business degree aimed at preparing students with theoretical business foundations and practical skills for careers including information management directors, business analysts, clinical directors, and health services managers.
The digital and social media design major will address a growing need for communication professionals, teaching students how to create compelling digital media content and how it can affect marketing, website traffic, customer relationships and brand messaging, Anna Maria said.
The video and photographic arts major will focus on how the mind processes information in images across multiple platforms, according to the college. Students in the major will develop technical and aesthetic skills while learning to use equipment and software for still photography, videography, and digital editing.
