American Superconductor Corp. of Devens says it will receive $12 million in federal economic stimulus money for ongoing projects in southern California and on Long Island.
The company will get $4.8 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds to develop a three-phase, 138 kilovolt fault current limiter for Southern California Edison. AMSC is the project manager and wire supplier for the project, which is also receiving nearly $8 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding.
AMSC expected to receive $7.6 million in federal stimulus funding for the second phase of a superconductor power cable project for the Long Island Power Authority. The project was commissioned last year. It connects two major power substations on Long Island.
