AMSC Lands Wyoming Transmission Deal

Devens-based American Superconductor Corp. said it has received an order from one of the largest electricity generation and transmission cooperatives in the country.

The Basin Electric Power Cooperative will use AMSC's D-VAR system to support an electricity transmission system near Wright, Wyo. The AMSC system will be used to maintain transmission stability and reliability in that region. It is able to detect and compensate for voltage disturbances by applying power to the grid when needed.

The system being installed for Basin Electric will the largest system of its kind in the United States, AMSC said.
