American Superconductor Corp. of Devens will supply Beijing-based Sinovel Wind Group Co. Ltd. with full wind turbine electrical control systems for a new series of 5-megawatt turbines.
The turbines will be the first 5-megawatt turbines produced by Sinovel, which currently makes 1.5-megawatt and 3-megawatt systems.
AMSC expects to ship the electrical components to Sinovel in the second half of the year.
Sinovel plans to complete the first of its 5-megawatt turbines within the next 12 months.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
