Energy efficiency firm Ameresco Inc., based in Framingham, announced it has signed a contract with the Fall River Housing Authority (FRHA) to provide water and energy efficiency upgrades to more than 1,500 housing units.
It’s the second contract Ameresco has signed with the FRHA and is expected to save the housing authority $13 million over 20 years, the company said.
The $6.8-million project includes water and lighting efficiency upgrades; upgraded apartment temperature controls; cogeneration; and mechanical system upgrades for space heat and domestic hot water. Energy management systems will also be installed to control and monitor the upgrades.
Construction on the subsidized housing will begin early this year and is expected to last for 15 months.
