Framingham renewable energy company Ameresco has replaced 500 metal halide, 2,000-watt sports field lights and installed 300 LED, 1,400-watt lights in their place at Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Cincinnati Bengals, according to a Wednesday announcement.
The switch is expected to save taxpayers more than $60,000 in annual electric costs. The stadium is owned by Hamilton County, Ohio. The halide fixtures were more than two decades old.
The project at the stadium marked the completion of the seventh phase of work Ameresco is conducting in Hamilton County, which also included work at the Great American Ballpark, home of the Cincinnati Reds.
