Framingham-based Ameresco announced the completion of an energy efficiency project that’s expected to save a customer more than $540,000 per year.
The renewable energy company said on Wednesday that it has completed a combined guaranteed utility savings project at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico.
After a complete audit of the university’s facilities, Ameresco constructed a 666.8 kilowatt-direct current of solar photovoltaic covered parking, water conservation measures, equipment level direct digital control upgrades, building scheduling and controls optimization, chiller plant controls optimization, lab air system rebalancing, variable flow chilled water system pumping, and interior and exterior LED lighting retrofits across campus.
These upgrades were designed to cut energy costs for New Mexico Tech, and also to improve its overall sustainability efforts, Ameresco said. They’re also designed to make facility operations more reliable and to improve learning and research environments for students and faculty.
New Mexico Tech also has a 20-year partnership with Ameresco to address needed upgrades, and to provide long-term cash flow and reliability benefits beyond the terms of the contract.
