Ameresco completes airport 3MW solar project

Ameresco, of Framingham, has completed a 3-megawatt solar installation at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), in a project that will help generate close to 20 percent of the airport’s power needs, the airport announced Thursday.

In addition to generating power, the project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6,813 metric tons annually, the company said. This is the equivalent of taking 1,434 passengers off the road in one year.

The project, developed and managed by the company, also included converting more than 7,700 metal halide light fixtures in all four parking ramps to energy-saving LED technology while four additional electric vehicle charging stations were installed in the ramps.
