Ameresco Awarded For Landfill Gas Utilization

Framingham-based Ameresco Inc., a renewable energy company, was awarded an excellence award this week by the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) for landfill gas utilization at its Santa Clara, Calif., plant.

Ameresco designed and built a new landfill-gas-to-energy facility in 2006, after it was abandoned by a previous developer, leaving the city of Santa Clara searching for a new clean energy developer for its all-purpose landfill.

Today, the facility provides clean electricity to Silicon Valley Power customers through innovative clean gas turbine technology, Ameresco said.

The Silver Excellence Award in Landfill Gas Utilization was presented at SWANA’s annual conference in Washington, D.C., this week.
