Framingham-based Ameresco Inc. has acquired Applied Energy Group, a private energy consulting company based in Islandia, N.Y.
AEG serves utilities and government agencies in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest and other regions. Its employees will be added to Ameresco’s current roster of more than 750 workers, but the company will keep its name.
George P. Sakellaris, Ameresco’s president and CEO, said in a statement that the acquisition will strengthen the company’s position in the energy efficiency business and will expand its offerings for utility customers.
Terms of the transaction were not immediately disclosed.
Ameresco said that it will make more information about the acquisition available during a quarterly earnings call scheduled for Aug. 10.
