Not yet two semesters into his tenure as dean of Anna Maria College's school of business, Lloyd Hamm Jr. will depart at the end of this month to assume the role of CEO of Grafton Suburban Credit Union (GSCU), college officials confirmed.
Hamm, who has also served as chief operating officer at Anna Maria since Jan. 2012, will take over April 8 at GSCU, replacing interim CEO Jack Caulfield, the credit union said today.
"We are very pleased that Lloyd will be joining the GSCU as its new CEO and believe he will be instrumental to our continued growth," said Andrew Nelson, GSCU's chairman. "Lloyd brings a wealth of strategic, financial, and organizational leadership experience to our operation."
Hamm, who spent 26 years working for Eastern Bank Corp., helped Anna Maria – his alma mater – launch its business school last year.
The school has since added an online MBA program as well as several new concentrations, said Paula Green, vice president for marketing and college relations.
"We were blessed to have him," Green said of Hamm. "He wasn't sure his fit at Anna Maria was right at the time."
In GSCU's announcement, Hamm said it's been a long-time dream of his to return to a community-oriented institution in the Blackstone Valley, where he went to school, started his career and has lived – in Upton – for more than four decades.
Hamm said in an email Monday that he he hopes to continue to advise and help the school.
GSCU was founded in 1966 and has 10,848 members and $127.4 million in assets.
