Alana Papa, the former director of recruiting at The Professional Alliance in Milford, recently joined ERA Key Realty Services of Whitinsville at its Franklin office. Outside her professional work, she's been actively involved in animal rescue groups. In this Q&A, she talks about why it's the perfect time to be in real estate.

Q. How are you settling in at your new office?
A. Everyone in my new office is so supportive and knowledgeable. It's been such an easy transition working with all of the owners/brokers and my colleagues. I couldn't be happier!
Q. What's the biggest surprise you've had in starting the job?
A. How much fun it is. I thoroughly enjoy every second I am in my office or working with clients. I love walking people through the process and seeing the smile on my clients' faces when they walk through the door of a home they can see themselves in. It's very rewarding.
Q. What challenges do you see in your new position?
A. In all honesty, I don't see any challenges. The market is perfect for buying a home, rates are at an all time low, my company is one of the leading in the industry, and I have the greatest mentors a new agent could ask for! I only see opportunity in front of me.
Q. How different is this job from your previous position?
A. Very similar. Both positions call for a deep knowledge of my industry, a positive attitude, and no fear of rejection.
Q. How close is this to what you imagined in high school you'd end up doing?
A. It's very different. I pictured myself as a veterinarian!
Q. Where's the best place to get lunch near your new location?
A. Ferrara's Market. You can't ask for anything better in Italian food.
Q. What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
A. I will be the leading agent at ERA Key Realty Services.
