AIM Appeals Cape Wind Deal

Continuing its fight against National Grid's agreement to buy power from the Cape Wind offshore wind farm, the Associated Industries of Massachusetts has filed an appeal with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.

The state Department of Public Utilities approved the 15-year deal in November. It was the first agreement under the Green Communities Act, which allows utilities to make long-term deals to buy renewable energy.

AIM argues that the agreement will add $1 billion to the cost of electricity for National Grid customers.

AIM said arguments before the court are expected to take place in the fall.
