Earth and Aerial Yoga in Hudson reopened this week as part of Phase 3 of Reopening Massachusetts.
With it’s opening on Monday, the studio said it was the region’s first aerial yoga studio to reopen for group aerial classes. The studio had been one of the first in the area to electively shut down, according to a press release, when it closed its doors due to the pandemic on March 13.
In order to comply with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and the Gov. Charlie Baker Administration, the studio has created a new system of renting or buying the silk hammocks, which hang from the ceiling and are essential to the aerial yoga practice. This allows them to be washed between each use.
"The positive feedback and support from our students has been overwhelming, and everyone has embraced our new policies," said Co-owner Lora Markova. "Many of our classes for the first week have already filled up, and we have more than 20 students who have purchased their own silks."
Additionally, the stations have been repositioned 14 feet apart with class sizes cut from a max of 17 to six people.
