ACT Gets Two Patents

Advanced Cell Technology, the Worcester-based regenerative medicine company, has received two new patents for treatments related to eye disorders.

The patents protect the company's process for manufacturing certain types of cells for testing and treatment in human patients.

Robert Lanza, the company's chief scientific officer, said the company is developing treatments for degenerative disorders of the retina and that the cells created from embryonic stem cells could open the door to new treatments for vision disorders.
