Accra Girls Co-owner Emmanuel Larbi, a medical researcher turned restaurateur, announced on Monday he will open a new eatery inside Worcester Public Market on Thursday.
Akra Eatery and Juice Bar, a play on its sister restaurant’s name and the Ghanian capital, will feature natural food influenced by West African cooking traditions.
Accra Girls opened roughly three years ago, after Larbi decided he wanted to grow and develop his family’s longstanding tradition of working with food by stepping into the Worcester restaurant scene.
“My family has always been in the food industry,” Larbi said in a statement. “My mom sold pepper sauce, which led to desserts and then catering. For me, the next logical step was to open a restaurant.”
The new restaurant will center around a create-your-own meal menu, including options for proteins, vegetables and spices.
The new restaurant location will open with social distancing in mind and will feature contactless menus and payment options, as well as distanced seating.
