Accolades & Honors: Sept. 30

Clark University of Worcester was ranked 75th nationally in U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges Guide for 2014 and 29th on its list of Great Schools at Great Prices. Clark has advanced in the U.S. News rankings, moving from No. 94 (2012 guide) to No. 83 (2013 issue) and No. 75 today.

Nichols College in Dudley was named a Best Value College by U.S. News & World Report, ranking ninth among colleges in the northern U.S. in the category. The annual survey took into account the cost of tuition during the 2012-2013 academic year and the amount of financial aid awarded to students. By those measures, the average cost for a student attending Nichols came to $27,400. Nichols also ranked first among the top 10 Best Value Colleges, with 93 percent of the student body receiving financial aid.

David A. L'Ecuyer, president and CEO of Shrewsbury-based Central One Federal Credit Union, was recognized with a 2013 Credit Union Heroes Award by Banker & Tradesman. L'Ecuyer is receiving the award for contributions that include working with more than 100 charitable and service organizations, such as Veterans Inc. and Rotary clubs.

Jeffrey A. Elliott, president and CEO of the Maynard-based Virtual High School (VHS) Collaborative, a nonprofit educational company, was named to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education's Digital Learning Advisory Council. The council advises the state board of education and the commissioner of elementary and secondary education on the creation of virtual education policies and online education best practices.

Westborough-based Cumulus Global was recognized for a second year as a member of the CRN Next-Gen 250. The Next-Gen 250 honors solution providers focused on cloud computing, unified communications and other emerging technologies.

Michael Elmes, Scott Jiusto and Robert Hersh, faculty members at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, received the Best Paper Award for 2012 from the journal Academy of Management Learning & Education. The winning paper was titled, "Teaching Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the Perspective of Place and Place Making."

Richard C. Barry Jr., Phillips S. Davis, Mark L. Donahue, Dennis F. Gorman and Frederick M. Misilo of Fletcher Tilton, with offices in Worcester and Framingham, as well as on Cape Cod, were recently chosen by their peers to be included among New England's Best Lawyers. Attorneys must earn a spot in Best Lawyers through exemplary legal work that attracts the notice of their colleagues.

Tyler Martin of Gaudette Insurance Agency in Whitinsville, was recently named a PaceSetter agent by State Auto Insurance Cos. PaceSetter is a designation given to independent agents who work with State Auto.
